WPHCA is showcasing the efforts of Community Health Centers in meeting the behavioral health needs of communities across Wisconsin with a new issue brief. The report provides data on the unmet demand for behavioral health services for various populations and how Community Health Centers are responding to address this growing crisis. Strategies include integrating behavioral health in primary care services, deploying school-based models, telehealth, and more.
A new survey from the Commonwealth Fund documents the challenges Community Health Centers face as they continue to provide high quality care to a record 32.5 million people. The survey of 737 heath center leaders described persistent workforce shortages, lack of financial resources, and Medicaid redeterminations. Yet, despite these multiple challenges, the survey shows that health centers are doing more than ever – increasing the use of telehealth services, providing more substance use treatment, and screening for social needs.
